One of the most famous Marathon swimmers is Diana Nyad, who held the world’s longest swim record at 102.5 miles until a few years ago. She attempted to swim from Cuba to Florida in 1978, starting in bad weather and only going 40 miles in 40 hours of big seas.
She stopped swimming in the 80s, having had enough of it, but when she turned 60 last year, she decided to return to swimming, and attempt the same 103 mile swim again. She’s sitting in Florida right now, still training and waiting for her Cuban visa. Here’s her blog.
