While i think it’s highly unlikely this would happen, there’s no doubt that the British Channel Coast Guard are also unhappy with Channel crossings, and would be happy with at least a reduction in the number of crossings and pilot boats. It’s the main reason the number of boats is now capped per association. What could happen is a further reduction in the pilot fleet, by a couple of boats, adding to the costs and waiting times.
This strikes me as akin to the government of Nepal banning climbs of Everest. I hope it is much ado about nothing.
