I never thought it would so successful! I hope all you guys aren’t too angry at me because you fell for it.

Those who know me know the respect in which I hold Channel swimming in general and Channel swimmers in particular. I always feel priviliged to be counted amongst them.

Anyone who crosses the Channel, regardless of day or time is special, as as their families, crew and supporters, and in particular all those people and organisations without whom a solo would not be possible. As I’ve been known to say on many occasions amongst my friends, "there is then in the end no such thing really as a Solo". But if you can’t have a laugh about it or during it, you’re doing it wrong.
